As they expand, ideally looking for an experienced Service Engineer to join the team and help support a valued client base.
The Role
As a Service Engineer, you’ll provide remote and on-site technical support to resolve machinery breakdowns and control system issues. You'll work with a wide range of PLC platforms, diagnosing faults, modifying code, and ensuring minimal downtime for our clients.
You’ll also play a vital role in preventative maintenance, system improvements, and supporting our on-call rota. If you’re passionate about automation, proactive problem-solving, and enjoy a mix of fieldwork and technical interaction—this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve faults on client equipment both remotely and on-site
- Work with PLC platforms including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron (others beneficial)
- Read, interrogate, andmodify existing PLC code to aid system recovery and optimization
- Carry out routine maintenance, system checks, and client support documentation
- Survey systems for new or non-contracted clients to prepare for onboarding
- Implement and maintain remote connection tools and communication protocols
- Source current or obsolete components and liaise with suppliers
- Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota (24/7) with uplifted pay and call-out compensation
- Support continuous improvement and documentation updates
- Work in accordance with companies ISO Integrated Management System (IMS), RAMS, and HSE protocols
- Promote a safe and compliant working environment, reporting any unsafe acts or near misses
What we need for this service engineer role
- Completed Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Strong experience with PLCs – Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Omron
- Background in FMCG, manufacturing, or automated production environments
- Proven knowledge of safety circuits and control systems
- High-level electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Understanding of networking, communication protocols, and remote support tools
- Excellent communicator with a client-first approach
- Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
