Job Title:Finance Assistant

Hours:Permanent - 40 Hours per week 0830-1700 Monday to Friday

Introduction:Elevation People Solutions are supporting a Coventry-based precision Engineering business in the recruitment of a Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to join a busy accounts department and contribute to the upkeep and accuracy of essential financial records, particularly within the Purchase Ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and confirm delivery note entries.
  • Ensure invoices are authorised per company policy.
  • Enter authorised purchase invoices onto SAGE.
  • Maintain and control the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) account for month-end preparation.
  • Manage the Query Log and resolve invoice queries within the correct accounting period.
  • Reconcile supplier balances between SAGE and supplier statements.
  • Prepare supplier BACS payments for management approval.
  • Respond to finance-related queries efficiently.
  • Assist with quarterly VAT return preparation.
  • Ensure VAT audit compliance with accurate record-keeping.
  • Help reconcile SAGE control accounts for sales ledger, invoice finance, and bank accounts.
  • Support the reconciliation of ten bank accounts, including four different currencies.
  • Manage workload to meet monthly reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with end-of-year accounts and adherence to accounting authorisation procedures.
  • Undertake ad-hoc duties as requested by the Finance Manager.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in finance or accounts assistant roles, particularly in purchase ledger functions.
  • Familiarity with SAGE accounting software.
  • Strong reconciliation and data entry skills.
  • Ability to manage workload to meet financial reporting deadlines.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of VAT procedures and audits.
  • Team player with flexibility to support broader business needs.
  • Strong communication skills for internal and external liaison.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and high standards of service.
