Estimator – Steel Fabrication and Welding

Location: Cowdenbeath

Salary: £30K-£35K (Dependent on Experience)

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Estimator who will play a key role in our project planning and pricing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel fabrication techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately estimate costs for projects of varying complexity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Evaluation: Analyse project requirements and specifications to understand scope and deliverables.
  2. Material and Labour Estimation: Calculate material, labour, and other costs associated with steel fabrication projects.
  3. Bid Preparation: Prepare accurate and competitive bids and proposals for potential projects.
  4. Vendor and Supplier Negotiation: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  5. Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  6. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
  7. Database Management: Maintain and update a comprehensive database of costs, pricing, and project-related information.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive project estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the steel fabrication industry.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes and materials.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating costs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
