Reed Finance are currently partnered with a growing organisation in the Crawley area in the recruitment of a Financial Controller to join their existing team.  As a Financial Controller, you will take full responsibility for the controllership function, providing both strategic and operational support to the Finance Director and the senior leadership team. This role encompasses comprehensive financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. You will be instrumental in driving system improvements, efficiencies, and cost control initiatives across the business.

Day to Day duties of the role:

  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely accounts and group submissions.
  • Analyse overheads, manage cash flow forecasts, and oversee payment runs.
  • Build and maintain intercompany relationships and lead stocktaking activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, UK GAAP, and manage the submission of statutory reports.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for year-end audits and manage VAT compliance and tax computations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the financial systems, ensuring enhanced reporting and analysis capabilities.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Management Accountant, preferably in manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Experience with Stock Control or Inventory Control.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing and mentoring financial teams.
  • Proficiency in integrated ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strategic thinker, able to align financial goals with the company’s overall objectives.
