We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile Automotive clients. They are currently looking for a Technical Manager to join them for an initial 6-month contract. However, there may be scope for extension.

Overview of the Role:

Reporting to the Functional Manager Whole Vehicle Verification and Validation, the role is responsible for the Verification & Validation Planning (VVP) from Level 1-n utilising systems engineering processes. EG/QV Responsibilities include; durability, reliability, and functional testing of our vehicles. The role provides strategical leadership, in depth technical knowledge and guidance to support and ensure achievement of business objectives and technical development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of Verification & Validation Plan (VVP) for new BY Projects utilising Systems engineering processes
  • Accountable for managing and developing the VVP from Level 1-n, working cross-functionally and challenging validation techniques (Virtual, Rig & physical)
  • Accountable for aligning VVP with; Platform, R&D & Quality teams.
  • Accountable for project deliverables, achieving project milestones against key performance indicators including managing vehicle preparation and updates prior, during and post events, leading concern resolution, manage outsourced work including suppliers, manage budgetary requirements.
  • Develop and maintain specialist technical knowledge; ensure process improvement activity, lead technical direction with other functions/engineers, provide technical direction to other feature owners, provide technical input for future developments.
  • Developing and influencing strategic validation direction; validation against attribute targets, advise on strategic opportunities, develop the strategic technical direction / technical roadmaps within the area.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communications between group counterparts.

About the Function

Whole Vehicle Validation and Quality team exists to protect the customer and brand by ensuring the engineering design meets whole vehicle product requirements prior to customer product release. They cover many aspects including Integration Level management - BIL, problem management - KPM tracking, durability, reliability, and functional tests.

Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will be a proven Automotive Engineer, with experience of whole vehicle verification and validation and an in-depth understanding of systems engineering. You will have strong leadership skills and be able to work across functional groups to meet project milestones coupled with communication and influencing skills up to Board level.

You will demonstrate:

  • Experience in leading Systems Engineering validation plans
  • A broad and established technical understanding of the whole vehicle and be a skilled vehicle attribute evaluator (durability/reliability/Test)
  • Group & Competitor vehicle awareness
  • Experience of process from launch to production.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of; Whole Vehicle deliverables in line with Engineering PVR's and KPI's.
  • knowledge of Test and measurement requirements in line with VAG procedures; Engineering drawings; Software tools; Concerns management systems.
  • Project management skills, ability to lead cross functionally to achieve project milestones.
  • Understanding and application of all required sign off legislative and environmental requirements.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Preferably Chartered Engineer, or with a desire to achieve/currently working towards Chartered status.
  • Proficiency in German language would be an advantage.

Location:

This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients Crewe office at least 3-4 days a week. Must also be willing to travel to mainland Europe and Germany

Working hours:

Standard working hours with some flex where required.
