Active Recruitment are working with an Outstanding mainstream Secondary school in Dagenham who are looking for a SEN Youth Support Worker to join their dedicated team of staff. The school is very welcoming and friendly in addition to providing a safe, inclusive environment for all students to feel valued.

As an SEN Youth Support Worker you will work closely with the teaching staff and other professionals to support the development and educational progress of their students. The purpose of the role is to act as a role model and mentor to children between the age of 11-16, implementing various strategies to reach targets set out in their individual action plans.

Requirements of the SEN Youth Support Worker

  • Promoting the pupil’s independence skills in communication, learning and social skills
  • Responding effectively to any behaviour incidents that takes place-involving learners.
  • Developing a 1:1 mentoring relationship with learner receiving support, aimed at achieving the goals defined in their individual action plan.
  • Creating and maintaining effective, immediate intervention strategies for behaviour incidents
  • Work closely with both parents of children so as to achieve progress
  • Develop conventional teaching methods so as to meet individual needs of each child
  • Working with fellow SEN teaching assistants to identify specific needs of each child
  • Teach and mentor students, both collectively and individually
