Our client is looking for a full-time, permanent Network Engineer to join their team. With locations across the North East and in Glasgow, the sucessful applicant will need a clean driving license and access to their own vehicle in order to travel between sites as business need dictates.
Role Purpose:
To support, manage and continually improve the IT network infrastructure, while monitoring the performance and resolving any network or security related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and support all elements of the network infrastructure, including:
- Enterprise LAN / WAN / Wi-Fi and Security Infrastructure
- Effectively Manage and Maintain the Network Teams Cybersecurity responsibilities.
- Security Monitoring, Investigation and Mitigation.
- Ensure best working practices are followed.
• To serve as a point of technical escalation within the IT team.
• To analyse all security events and intrusions attempts across the estate making recommendations for the continuous improvement of network infrastructure.
• To ensure adherence to the relevant Cyber Security and Regulatory standards.
• To provide technical support and technical quality control throughout all stages of a project’s delivery.
• To engage with the other infrastructure teams to ensure alignment.
• To ensure regular and clear communications with stakeholders and management, in order to ensure process and projects are delivered.
• To keep self up to date with developments in areas relevant to role.
• To undertake any other duties deemed relevant to the role.
Person specification
Essential Education / Qualifications:
Educated to HNC or Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in an IT discipline, plus significant industrial experience. Or Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in an IT discipline, plus relevant industrial experience. OR Can demonstrate working at a CCNA level plus significant relevant industrial experience.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
Understanding of networking concepts and terminologies. Experience with Cisco technologies including, but not limited to, Routing and Switching.
Understanding of security components including network access control, firewalls and SIEM technologies.
Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other 'back office’ technologies to a competent level.
Driving Licence with access to own vehicle.
