Sheridan Maine is working exclusively with an award-winning company based along the beautiful South Coast, who are keen to secure a motivated and versatile Finance Director to join their Senior Leadership Team. As Finance Director, we are looking for someone who will be involved in the day-to day running of the business as well as the strategic decision-making, with a high level of attention to detail and someone who thrives in a hands-on and varied role. This position will offer the successful candidate a key opportunity to be a senior member of an experienced and passionate management team within this successful and long-standing business.   The role will report to the Chief Executive, as a Director on the Board, Company Secretary and a senior member of the management team. The candidate will have a valued voice around the table and be expected to offer constructive support and challenge to the team, having responsibility for a high standard of professionalism across the business and driving positive change.Key areas of responsibility for the Finance Director:
  • Supporting the Board of Directors whilst overseeing financial budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Proactively manage the Company Finances, controlling the day-to-day operation of Head Office, whilst taking a hands-on approach to all aspects of operational finance, including:
  • Timely production of monthly finance statements
  • Statutory statements and Audit preparation
  • VAT returns and Payroll
  • Act as Company Secretary for the business.
  • Management of the company’s portfolio of property, leases, negotiations, disputes, and associated legal aspects (with support from the administration team and property consultants).
  • Quarterly Covenant reporting to the bank in accordance with facilities agreement.
  • Management of the HR function (with the support of an external HR Consultant).
  • Management of the administration and front of house tasks, including negotiation of utilities and any insurance contracts.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of the business.
  • Leadership of the IT Manager; including procurement of IT equipment, telecoms, contracts, continual workflow and system improvements.
  • Encouraging a continuous improvement ethic within the team, working with the wider business to identify and implement change.
Qualifications and Experience required in this role:
  • Professional Chartered/Certified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) Accountant.
  • Independent, pragmatic character willing to provide challenge to the Board and management team.
  • Highly analytical, critical thinker, high attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Dependable team player and a good communicator.
  • Legal and commercial knowledge would be highly valuable.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety laws and regulations are desirable but not essential.
