Job Overview:
The Maintenance Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a variety of production machinery. This includes performing maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and carrying out repairs on complex systems. A strong foundation in both electrical and mechanical engineering is essential, along with a working knowledge of PLCs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing or R&D setting and thrive in a high-tempo environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer
Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on machinery including reactors, pumps, and supporting systems.
Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
Perform basic PLC fault-finding and implement necessary adjustments.
Install and wire electrical systems as required.
Collaborate with R&D and other departments to maintain optimal equipment performance.
Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks, issues, and resolutions.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and performance.
Qualifications and Skills of the Maintenance Engineer
Proven experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, preferably in a production or R&D environment.
Practical knowledge of pumps, reactors, and industrial machinery.
Competence in diagnosing electrical faults, carrying out wiring work, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a calm approach under pressure.
Effective communication and teamwork skills for cross-department collaboration.
A relevant engineering qualification (e.g. in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering) is desirable.
