Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Care
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: £36,000 per annum
Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded and forward-thinking children’s residential care provider. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join a small, stable home rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted.
The service supports up to five children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, and behaviours that may challenge. Many of the young people use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, picture boards, and Smartbox devices. The team is committed to promoting inclusion, independence, and meaningful engagement in everyday life.
The Role:
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, leading and developing a team to provide exceptional, person-centred care. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong values, excellent communication skills, and a calm, nurturing approach.
You’ll play a key role in supporting children to overcome challenges and reach their full potential, ensuring their voice is always heard and respected.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in a residential childcare setting (essential)
- Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People or equivalent (essential)
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Ability to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
- Experience supporting children with complex needs, autism, and/or behaviours that challenge
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, therapeutic approaches, and positive behaviour support
