We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a civils contractor, primarily working in the waterways, environmental, water infrastructure, and district heating sectors. They are seeking to recruit a Project Manager to join their team on a freelance basis to carry out Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) works, as well as some management of live schemes. Typical contract types for this role are flood defence works on rivers and the coast, reservoir works, and repairs to pumping stations, culverts etc. The ideal candidate will have experience of ECI as well as delivering live projects in the environmental civil engineering sector.They have a flexible approach to off-site working, which can be carried out either at one of their offices, or at home if you prefer. Your core duties will include:* Pre-construction activities such as early contractor involvement, tender programmes, optioneering and value engineering for build only, and design and build packages.* Working with the Estimator to prepare programmes, methodologies, and budgets.* Applying for Flood Risk Activity Permits (FRAP.)* Responsibility for the programme, cost, and value of live projects.* Liaising with the client to ensure projects run smoothly, and relationships are maintained.* Administering the NEC contract. Raising contractual notices such as Early Warnings and Notification of Compensation Events.* Updating the construction Programme to show progress and to demonstrate change.* Monitoring and managing the health and safety compliance of the project.* Preparing the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and monitoring its completion.* Managing and supporting the Site Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors.* Co-ordinating the temporary works, and planning safety critical activities, e.g. crane lifts, floating plant, piling, pressure testing.Your skills experience and qualifications will include:* Good IT skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.* Experience of ECI work.* Design and Build experience (PC and PD.)* Excellent time management skills.* The ability to work as part of a team.* Minimum 5 years' experience in the management of civil engineering.* CITB SMSTS or NEBOSH equivalent.* CSCS card.The following attributes would be advantageous:* Experience of FRAP (Flood Risk Activity Permit) application.* HND, Degree or similar in Construction or Civil Engineering.* CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator.* Experience of interesting or unusual temporary works and access solution.* Design and build experience.* Environmental awareness training.Location: Based in Wessex would be ideal. The majority of the work is in Somerset and Dorset.
