This is a fantastic opportunity to join my client, a trusted, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy, dedicated to broadening their geographical reach by establishing a new office location in Bonnie Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently on the lookout for a skilled, driven Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a number of challenging projects. You will have a genuine hand in building and leading a newly-established team of design engineers, based near the green, family-friendly city of Dunfermline.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

  • Overseeing a number of projects and developments
  • Managing the day-to-day running of projects at all stages of the process, from inception through to successful delivery and implementation
  • Providing mentorship and support to colleagues as they progress, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Building and maintaining important professional relations with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors
  • Preparing, checking, and submitting reports, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and other technical documents
  • Subscribing to and promoting company policies, procedures, and best practice
  • Enforcing the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
  • Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, and other events

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

  • A UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering (or a similar, relevant discipline)
  • Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
  • Extensive experience in a design-based role, within a UK consultancy setting
  • Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects
  • Experience of earthworks design and drainage network modelling
  • Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports and other technical documents for submission
  • Experience of leading people and projects within the sector
  • Prior experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
  • Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

- A UK Master's Degree (or equivalent qualification)

- Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments

- Experience of preparing Transport Assessments

- Experience of working in a public-facing role
