Our client, a leading provider of general contracting, fit-out, M&E (Mechanical and Electrical), design, and manufacturing services, is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their dynamic team. Job Description:

As the Estimator, you will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects. Your keen attention to detail, analytical skills, and industry knowledge will be instrumental in ensuring the profitability and success of our client's projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Evaluation: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and scope.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services based on project plans and specifications.
  • Quantification: Quantify and take off materials from architectural and engineering drawings, ensuring all relevant details are captured for accurate costing.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors, negotiating prices and terms to secure the best value for the project.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis, identifying cost drivers, potential cost savings, and areas of risk or uncertainty.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with the project team to explore value engineering opportunities, offering alternative solutions or materials to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, pricing schedules, and any necessary supporting documentation.
  • Tender Submissions: Coordinate the timely submission of tender documents, ensuring compliance with all submission requirements and deadlines.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients and project stakeholders to address inquiries, provide clarification on cost-related matters, and build positive relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to continually refine estimating practices and enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry,
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
