Our client is an SEN school in the Dunstable area with a leading edge approach to the education of their pupils. They are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their well established team. They value the effectiveness and efficiency in respect of the therapeutic approach to the personal development, education and training of all their pupils.

They are looking for an SEN teaching assistant to assist that has a keen understanding of the requirements needed when working with pupils that have SEN, SEMH and PMLD. You'll be working closely with the internal SEN team with the day to day challenges, education and training of their pupils. Whilst working closely with the pupils it will allow a chance to build a strong bond with the pupils.

This will be the ideal role for a candidate that is looking to use this role as a potential stepping stone to further their career within the education and training sector. Ideal for Aspiring Teachers or Speech and Language Therapists.

Responsibilities:

  • Woking closely alongside the schools well trained specialist in the SEN team.
  • You will be required to assist with student's academic development, monitor progression and foster independence.
  • Pupils from the ages of 5-18 years old could have a variety of mild to moderate Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • A positive caring upbeat disposition is essential - you will become a positive consistent role model in the lives of their specific pupils.

Our desired teaching assistant for the role will be:

  • A good academic record ideally educated to a degree standard
  • The ability to understand the challenges the SEN students face and ability to adapt your approach accordingly.
  • Patience and empathy with the ability to quickly build and sustain a positive relationship with all students, pupil's parents and internal school colleagues.
  • Able Commute to Dunstable.
