Proactive Personnel are recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner & programmer for our client based in the Stoke area.

You will be tasked with machining/producing a wide range of machines products, using a variety of Lathe type machines. You will be working with various types of materials including, ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless steel, plastics and composites. You will be required to programme and set up CNC machines to produce precision parts to high tolerances specified on customer drawings, in an efficient manner.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Programming the lathe(s), both manually and using customer supplied files.
  • Setting up the lathe(s) for most efficient production of the batch size required.
  • Selection of the correct material type and grade from stores, maintaining traceability.
  • Machining first-off samples for inspection.
  • Programming and setting machine(s) for lower skilled operatives and monitoring same.
  • Machining production quantities ranging from single items to hundreds per month.
  • Operating several machines at the same time if component run times permit.
  • Deburring all machined parts where required.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance of the allocated machine(s) against a TPM schedule.
  • Working as an integral member of the Engineering Team.

What you need to succeed!

  • Experience of operating a CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) would be advantageous.
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over long periods, without being distracted.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, and determine the best approach to the component manufacture.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Must be responsible, effective, confident, and capable.
