For 230 years, Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans has been supporting people impacted by vision loss. We believe we play an important role in continually shifting the conversation around sight loss, and contributing to achieving a fair, equitable society. Over the years, we've seen a positive shift in expectations, with individuals and communities increasingly empowered to live lives the way they choose, free of discrimination.
Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, this role will ensure a high level of user satisfaction by providing first-line IT support, resolving routine issues, and managing service desk tickets. This role will take on the responsibility for monitoring service performance, escalating complex issues to the Senior Systems Specialist, and supporting service delivery improvements. We're seeking a proactive and user-focused IT Support Specialist to provide first-line technical support across the Charity. You'll be the first point of contact for resolving day-to-day IT issues, managing service desk tickets, and escalating complex incidents when needed-all while ensuring clear communication with users.
A key part of the role will involve assisting with onboarding new users, including account setup, hardware build and configuration, and IT induction training. As such we're looking for an individual with strong technical knowledge of IT systems, including experience troubleshooting common hardware (e.g., desktops, laptops, printers), software (e.g., Microsoft 365), and network connectivity issues (e.g., Wi-Fi and wired connections). In addition to handling system checks and routine maintenance, you'll monitor service performance, contribute to SLA reporting, and support database upkeep and user onboarding. A commitment to learning, sharing knowledge, and embracing change is key, as you'll be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies and act as a subject matter expert in key areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their IT career. As part of a forward-thinking and supportive IT team, you'll have access to significant growth and development opportunities, including hands-on experience, training to broaden your technical expertise, and a pathway for career progression within the organisation. Your contributions will be valued and your development actively supported as we continue to modernise and improve our IT services.
