NQ Contentious Construction Solicitor – Edinburgh

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified Solicitor to join a leading Construction team based in Edinburgh. The team provides expert advice and dispute resolution services to a wide range of clients across the construction industry, including developers, contractors, insurers and funders. This is an excellent chance to work on complex, high-value construction disputes, with exposure to work across the UK. 

You will assist senior team members in providing strategic advice and managing contentious construction and insurance disputes across various forums, including litigation, adjudication, arbitration, mediation and expert determination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on contentious construction matters, including the review and analysis of contracts and supporting documentation
  • Preparing evidence, client statements and legal analysis
  • Drafting legal submissions and pleadings
  • Representing clients in court, mediation, adjudication and arbitration
  • Negotiating settlements and helping clients resolve disputes effectively
  • Contributing to business development, including assisting with marketing initiatives and writing articles
  • Embracing legal technology and helping integrate AI tools into workflows to drive innovation

What you'll need:

  • Strong commercial awareness and a passion for the construction industry
  • Sound drafting and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex legal issues and tight deadlines
  • Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to tailor advice to client needs
  • Be a collaborative team player with an interest in business development
  • Organised, self-motivated and proactive, with an enthusiasm for adopting new legal technologies
