Interim Public Sector Management Accountant
Duration: 4-5 months (potential for extension)
Day Rate up to £300 via umbrella
Location: Devon but could be remote after initial induction
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interim Management Accountant to support the finance team within a reputable public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact on the financial operations during a critical period of transition.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with public sector accounting standards.
Budget Management: Assist in the development, monitoring, and review of budgets, providing insightful analysis and forecasting to support decision-making.
Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and presenting findings to senior management.
Cost Control: Implement and maintain effective cost control measures, ensuring optimal use of resources.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with various departments and external stakeholders, providing financial guidance and support as needed.
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
Qualifications: ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification.
Experience: Proven experience in a management accounting role within the public sector is essential.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. Familiarity with public sector finance systems and regulations.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
IT Skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with financial software systems.
