Design ManagerLong term job security with an industry leading company?This well-respected contractor has a network of UK offices and a dedicated workforce; they are well known for working on some of the UK’s most prestigious construction and engineering projects.Their South West business unit have a healthy pipeline of work and recently secured a number of infrastructure schemes in Plymouth and are therefore in need of additional resource and looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Design Manager to join their team.The Job:As the appointed Design Manager you’ll play a vital role within the senior project team being responsible for the design function and team on live Projects. The role will also involve supporting the Work Winning Department on tenders to help secure more projects.Day to day duties will include:
  • and co-ordinating the design of a range of projects within Civil Engineering
  • the designs from tender stage through to the completion of construction stage design information.
  • cost-effective design solutions to the project team
  • value engineering principles to ensure best value
  • an understanding of site management practices, interface management, risks, costs and co-ordination.
The person:To succeed in this job you will have a proven track record of undertaking design management activities at both tender and construction stages. This experience will include working on contracts principally across the non-infra water sector.Technical specifications and required qualifications:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant construction subject.
  • Professionally qualified e.g. C.Eng or MCIOB
  • Competent user of MS packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Experience of P6, Microsoft Project or similar (desirable).
  • Competent user of Collaborative platforms.
  • Well-developed Technical Construction knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience of various design standards (e.g. WIMES, Client Standards).
