As a Payroll Specialist, you will oversee the entire payroll process and ensure auto-enrolment compliance for a portfolio of clients. You will also develop client relationships and maintain effective communication with various offices, HMRC, and other third-party providers.

Our client is a leading firm of Accountants and Business Advisers operating across the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics. They have a wide network of employees and offer inspiring opportunities across multiple offices. They are ranked in the top ten in the UK accountancy sector and are the largest SME practice. This role will be based from their Fareham office on a hybrid basis.

Description

Payroll Specialist:- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and auto-enrolment compliance for clients.- Manage all tasks related to payroll processing through to completion.- Build and maintain client relationships, ensuring effective communication with offices, HMRC, and third-party providers.- Accurately process pension deductions according to established policies.- Stay updated on pension legislation changes.- Resolve employee queries and errors with Pensions Online.- Provide expert knowledge on pension tiered contributions to organizations.- Ensure accurate monthly balances and contributions via Pensions Online or MCP.- Review work produced by junior team members and support the Payroll Manager.- Lead by example in payroll processing and team attitude.- Assist the team with client, HMRC, and third-party queries.- Conduct regular training on legislation and systems.- Perform ad-hoc duties or projects as needed.- Develop ad-hoc financial and operational reports.

Profile

Payroll Specialist:- Over two years of experience with payrolls (bureau environment experience is a plus).- End-to-end payroll processing, including pensions, benefits, and statutory payments.- Knowledge of pension tiered contributions and online administration (e.g., SD55 updates, AW8, RF12, starters, and leavers).- Familiarity with Agenda for Change and Medical/Dental terms and conditions (desirable).- Ability to manually calculate payroll.- High accuracy and attention to detail in both manual and systems-based work.- Strong coordination, prioritization, and multitasking skills with minimal supervision.- Customer-focused approach, adept at handling queries via phone and email.- Adaptability to a highly changeable environment.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.- In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation, processing, and auto-enrolment regulations.- Effective client management and steps towards staff management.- Experience in mentorship and coaching to support team members.- Ideally, a CIPP Foundation degree qualification or working towards it.
