Housekeeping Assistant

This is a temporary ongoing role.

You'll need a recent / valid DBS for this role.

We are looking for a dedicated Housekeeping Assistant to join our team. The role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness and understanding the ethical aspects of the job. The ideal candidate will be able to carry out a range of related jobs requiring light physical effort and will be accountable to the Housekeeping Manager.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from dust, dirt, and debris using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Wear protective clothing, including uniform and footwear, as required.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in a manner that minimizes disruption.
  • Promptly remove spillages and hazards.
  • Inform authority when cleaning schedules cannot be carried out.
  • Return equipment and materials to the appropriate storage place after use.
  • Serve food and beverages in a safe manner, adhering to food hygiene regulations.
  • Liaise with clinical staff regarding requests from patients and families and pass on any concerns to nursing staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop effective relationships with colleagues.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a hospital/care environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Food & Hygiene or Manual Handling certificates are beneficial.
  • Promote a positive attitude to work and provide a quality service.
  • Manage workload effectively and work independently when required.
  • Awareness of policies, health & safety, and the importance of security and confidentiality.
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to display empathy.
  • Basic IT skills are necessary, with a willingness to improve.
