TeacherActive is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in an “outstanding” special school in Ackworth. This school caters to young people aged 11-19 years with severe, complex, or profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school focuses on developing its student’s communication, social interaction, life skills, and community access.

As a Learning Mentor, your responsibilities will include planning lessons and delivering them on a 1:1 basis, supporting and developing SEN students, and catering your teaching to each student’s needs. This role will begin after the half-term and roll over into the next school year, there is a chance that this will lead to a permanent position for the right Learning Mentor. This is a great chance to gain an abundance of experience to add to your profile and keep every day exciting. We build strong relationships with our schools and support staff so we can find the best placements that suit you and your schedule.

The ideal Teaching Assistant should have the following:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or experienced with Children who have Special Educational Needs
  • A calm, patient, and caring persona
  • Good behaviour management
  • A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
  • Experience in working with and supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
