Mechanical Design Engineer, Okehampton, salary up to £40k DOE, plus benefits Full Time, Permanent and site based. This will be working Monday to Friday.

Due to exciting growth, Wise Employment are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for one of our fast growing and expanding clients.

You will be part of an innovative team and be responsible for the development and maintenance of the products mechanical design.

Mechanical Design Engineer duties required:

  • Maintaining Design drawings
  • Identification of components and materials to be used within the products created
  • Prototype, test and develop new designs to production stage
  • Support the integration and system testing from initial stage trials to project complete phase trials.
  • Be involved within project management aspects
  • Development of manufacturing drawings
  • Using SolidWorks to produce 3D CAD models and manufacture drawings

Key Skills required for a Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • A relevant graduate or postgraduate level qualification in mechanical design or equivalent
  • You will be required to have at least 2 years’ experience of mechanical design and preferably within the marine engineering industry.
  • Recent experience of using 2D and 3D CAD Skills
  • Confident with data analysis and also using Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design techniques
  • The ability to work within a small team to achieve the development and delivery of quality products within a unique environment.
  • Project and line management experience with at least 1 years’ experience
  • It would be advantageous to have design experience of composites and construction
  • You will need to have experience of developing new technology and knowledge of mechanical integration of electrical systems.

This role may at times require you to travel (within the UK and occasional abroad travel) so you will need to be flexible in your working hours to accommodate the needs of the business.
