Stride Recruitment are partnering with a Global Manufacturing Company, on the search for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager based in Gateshead, England.
As the HSE Manager you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and compliant working environment across the company. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies and programs to ensure the welfare and protection of employees, visitors, contractors and the environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential health and safety risks in the workplace and conduct risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement measures to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment.
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Implement corrective actions and provide recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, and environment training programs for employees and managers.
  • Promote safety awareness and ensure all staff are adequately trained to perform their roles safely.
  • Establish and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for emergencies.
  • Develop and implement environmental management strategies to minimize the company's environmental impact.
  • Promote sustainable practices and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and submit necessary health, safety, and environmental reports to relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of incidents, training, and compliance data.
  • Lead initiatives to promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.

What are we looking for?

  • NEBOSH General certificate
  • Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in a manufacturing or retail environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing health, safety, and environmental risks.
  • Experience in conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Proficiency in managing health, safety, and environment-related documentation and reporting.
