Systems Engineer

Working for a global automotive manufacturing business based in Gillingham, who are progressive and innovative in their strategy to keep ahead of the fast paced changes within the automotive sector, the role of Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing real-time safety critical powertrain systems for use within passenger car and commercial vehicle applications.

Job Description:

  • Designing control algorithms & strategies (using Matlab\Simulink) and autocode generation
  • of production intent code
  • Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
  • Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicle
  • Development of safety monitoring strategies to the EGAS standard
  • Capturing and analysing customer requirements using Polarion.
  • Provide expertise for investigations and problem solving activities
  • Supporting the customer's engine and vehicle testing
  • Supporting system and hardware DFMEA

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • An understanding of powertrain sensors and actuators, including analogue, digital, H-Bridge, CAN-based, and SENT.
  • Knowledge of CAN, UDS, and J1939 protocols, as well as an understanding of C code, will be advantageous.
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry and familiarity with a production intent auto-coding environment would be ideal.
  • Proficiency with CAN Tools such as CANalyzer and activity management tools like Jira will be beneficial.

Education:

Candidates should be educated to HND or degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
