Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Type: Temporary, permanent available

Salary: £18 - £20 per hour 

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s maintenance team on a temporary basis. For the right candidate, this role has the opportunity to go permanent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Planned Maintenance schedules, undertaking corrective and reactive work, and driving improvement projects to increase plant reliability and reduce costs.

Day to Day of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role:

  • Complete Planned Maintenance inspections as defined by the site maintenance plans safely and effectively.
  • Plan and deliver corrective and reactive work, ensuring tools, parts, and materials are available and production downtime is minimised.
  • Modify and improve plant and equipment to maximise availability and performance.
  • Assess malfunctioning equipment and provide advice to influence decision-making.
  • Undertake engineering project work and assist with new installations or refurbishments.
  • Contribute to problem-solving workshops, providing engineering expertise.

Required Skills & Qualifications of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

  • Understanding of proactive maintenance strategies and condition monitoring.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and safety.
  • Understanding of safe systems of work, e.g., plant isolations and safety systems.
  • Completed apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a processing, manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • ONC / HNC / City & Guilds or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
