The Millennium Hotel Glasgow has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to work closely with the Front of House Manager in providing excellent support for the Reception team and the wider hotel operations.

Assistant Manager responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Front of House Manager ensuring the smooth management of the department – days and nights
  • Supporting the Front Office Manager by encouraging a culture where friendly and efficient service is delivered consistently
  • Ensuring that guest queries/issues are resolved effectively and in a timely manner
  • Carrying out float checks and handling all cash transactions accurately throughout the shift including the issue/use of safety deposit boxes
  • Providing excellent communication with all departments
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed, consistently
  • Assisting the Front of House Manager with the smooth running of the department, including supervision and training, conducting regular job chats and supporting the team to deliver exceptional standards
  • Being fully aware of Health & Safety and emergency procedures
  • Participating in Duty Management shifts and supporting the Front of House areas, including Food & Beverage, as required.
  • Supporting the Night team by covering holidays and absence, as required.

This is a 4 on 4 of shift pattern, which includes weekend work.

What are we looking for?

  • An experienced Assistant Manager/Duty Manager/Reception – Shift Leader/similar, with excellent knowledge of departmental procedures and systems, e.g., OPERA
  • A proven track record with senior supervisory experience in a quality hotel
  • A positive, ‘can do’ attitude and the drive and determination to succeed
  • The ability to lead and effectively supervise the team
  • Excellent communications skills
  • High standards, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage the department in the absence of the Front of House Manager and cover a variety of shifts, depending on business needs
  • Ability to work 5 days out of 7, including weekends
