Development Underwriter - Scotland

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clients Commercial Team as a Development Underwriter.  They are looking for a candidate who thrives on trading and enjoys face to face interactions with our key customers.

The perfect candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and the face of trading in the Insurance market in Scotland. This is a great time to get on board and work with the team to create something special.

The role: 

  • Profitably underwrite Commercial risks from wide suite of products on a case-by-case basis, within appetite and underwriting criteria.
  • Manage your own diary to utilise your time in the best way possible across your broker panel.
  • Uncover new business opportunities and work with your brokers partners in a solutions focussed manner to deliver exceptional propositions.
  • Operate within company strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
  • Develop and maintain strong trading relationships with our broking partners and leverage that relationship to deliver growth in line with the company plan.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both brokers and internal stakeholders to set us apart from our competitors.
  • Provide support and guidance to less experienced members of the team to share your knowledge and experience.
  • Have your finger on the pulse of what is happening in the insurance market and be one step ahead.

Your skills and experience:

  • Strong trading skills with experience in developing broker accounts to achieve profitable growth.
  • Underwriting knowledge, specifically with previous experience in Commercial Combined.
  • Motivated, driven and adapts to change, positively displaying a can do attitude.
  • Willingly provides help and support to others and has the ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Passionate about own development within the insurance industry.
  • To assess and analyse data accurately and effectively.
  • The ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • A solutions focussed approach to trading.
