The role
As a Pipe Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.

Day-to-day, you'll be manufacturing, repairing and replacing pipe work using a variety of industry standard materials.

  • Documenting and reporting Dimension Control, Traceability and Quality standards
  • Determining job requirements and planning/configuring equipment materials
  • Installations, inspections, diagnosing problems/faults/leeks, testing, repair and maintenance of various pipe systems
  • Fabrication, Pipe bending, Welding, pipe fitting on sight (on board ship) Manual Handling, Housekeeping
  • Identify hazards, problems, defects and the need for replacement, adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety

This position involves working in confined spaces and heights. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces and heights.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday - Thursday (overtime and nights available) and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience of the Pipe Fitter

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good working knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade
  • Demonstrable knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Able to read Engineering Drawings

Qualifications for the Pipe Fitter

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
