Depot Field Engineer

We are currently seeking a skilled and customer-focused Depot Field Engineer to join our tooling hire company. The Depot Field Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and repair services for our rental equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong customer service orientation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of tooling and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and implement timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct pre-rental inspections and post-rental checks to ensure equipment is in good working condition and meets quality standards.
  • Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, providing technical assistance, advice, and guidance on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, including rental history, maintenance logs, and repair history.
  • Monitor equipment usage, availability, and condition, and recommend repairs, replacements, or additions to the rental fleet as needed.
  • Coordinate with the depot manager to ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment of consumables and spare parts.
  • Understand interpret and follow drawings and diagrams.
  • Skilled in electrical fitting to modify, mount and connect electrical components.
  • Worked within a service environment / branch and have a proven track record with regard to product knowledge and professional interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or a related field, preferably in the tooling or construction industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
