Control System Engineer

Orion Automation are currently supporting a Gloucester based pioneer in the advanced manufacturing industry, who are experiencing significant and consistent growth due to patented breakthrough technology. As a result of this strong business growth, there is a requirement to recruit for a Control Systems Engineer to join their growing team.

As the Control Systems Engineer, you will be pivotal in developing the control program and operator interface for customer projects, working within a dynamic team who are driven to establish themselves as world-leading manufacturers.

The Control Systems Engineer will:

• Participate in full life cycle design processes, including project specifications.
• Write software for PLCs, SCADA and HMIs.
• Collaborate between a number of departments to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
• Maintaining structured, well-commented code.
• Commissioning of new machinery at our HQ.
• Occasional on-site commissioning at customer sites.
• Out-of-hours support in a rota structure as and when required (max 1 week in 4).

Qualifications, Experience, and skills:

• PLC/ HMI Programming experience (Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley or Siemens)
• Strong experience working with Servo Drives, Motion Control Products, Fieldbus devices and pneumatics.
• Experience of robot motion would be beneficial.
• Experience of G-Code or similar would be an advantage.
• Awareness of machinery safety related to CE marking.
• Any experience with Major PLC systems. 

They use - IEC 61131-3 – Structured Text and Sequential Function Chart 

Desired but not essential - C#, SQL, HTML 5, Rapid (ABB Robot)
