CAD Technician (Manufacturing), Contract – Hampshire – Up to £250/day
Job Purpose:
Working as part of a growing team of Design Engineers, and under the direction of a Lead Design Engineer, the role of CAD Engineer/Technician will contribute to the development of cost effective and sustainable designs for high profile customers.  This is a good opportunity where you can develop your existing skill set, whilst learning new skills on the job too. You will be exposed to multiple engineering disciplines and working on many different projects across various platforms, for land, sea and air. No two days will be the same.
Key duties: 

  • Use Autodesk Design Suite to create 2D and 3D models, including detailed drawings based on designs/specifications supplied by the Design Engineers
  • Liaise with Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to understand requirements
  • Use Autodesk Vault to manage and store documents, drawings and models
  • Make modifications to existing drawings and create engineering change requests/notes
  • Ensure drawings are compliant with the current BS/ISO standards and the internal design procedures
  • Carry out tolerance analysis on components and assemblies
  • Present working drawings at various design reviews, manufacture and installation of the product
  • Maintain accurate design logs and records.

     Skills/Qualifications:

  • The ability to gain SC clearance (essential security requirement)
  • Experience in the creation of 2D and 3D models, including detailed drawings, including detailed tolerance analysis
  • A minimum of 1 years’ professional experience using a 3D modelling package
  • An understanding of configuration management (document control)
  • Ability to work in an engineering team environment and participate in all team activities, as well the ability to work well using own initiative
  • Computer literacy with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Design Suite and Vault would be advantageous, experience with other packages such as Solidworks, Siemens Solid Edge, Creo, etc. will be considered
  • An understanding of manufacturing methods such as fabrication, milling and turning, etc. or a willingness to learn
