About this Role:

An experienced / ambitious Site Manager is required to work with the team on an 80m change of use new build and refurbishment project in Gosport, Hampshire.

Reporting to the Project Manager and working with several other Site Managers across the project, you will be responsible for managing all site based construction activities for your building / area including:

  • Coordination of trade sub-contractors;
  • Mid and short-term programming of works;
  • Input to design development / raising queries - RFIs.
  • Ensuring company health and safety standards are planned, communicated, achieved and enforced;
  • Review of method statements and risk assessments (RAMS);
  • Organising deliveries of materials, logistics, waste management, etc;
  • Quality control; Inspections and test plans;
  • Coordination meetings with trades and other managers;
  • Reporting on progress against program;
  • Issue resolution;
  • Snagging and handovers across multiple phases.

The project has commenced on site in its early works stages; Main works due to commence in March for an 18 month construction programme. This is a multi-phased project, some demolition and enabling works are complete, but more is ongoing across the larger site.

The project comprised change of use across some 40+ buildings on an existing but redundant MOD base, which will include cut and carve refurbishment, light touches internal refurbishment, some re-roofing and recladding, plus some demolition and new build.

The project will comprise a mixture of basic accommodation, health centre, kitchens and dining facilities, storage and offices, plus a new energy centre and reworking of services across the site. Works will run thoughout this year and into the middle of 2025.

About the Company/Client/Project:

The contractor is a larger main contractor group with roughly 150m annual turnover, and a proven track record in the delivery of medium to large new build and refurbishment schemes from 25m to 40m+ in the education, commercial, health care, custodial and defence sectors.

The patch focus includes Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, secured through a mixture of negotiated schemes, frameworks and competitive tenders.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, proactive, demonstrating excellent technical, organisational, man-management, communication and communication skills. Proven track record of work for a top twenty main contractor advantageous.

Ideally from a trades, construction management or engineering background with a sharp eye for detail and finishes, you will possess strong planning and problem solving ability, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach. A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management would be advantageous, but not essential based on experience.

This role would suit an ambitious SM looking to consolidate this role in a large site team.

Typically there are good prospects for progression within this business.

You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role.
