One of these trustees will also take on the pivotal role of Chair of our Finance and Risk Committee.

Since 1624, Pinnocks Charity has a proud history of providing safe, secure, and affordable housing to those in need in Gravesham. With 62 almshouses and additional social and investment properties, we aim to become the largest provider of almshouses in the country and expand our impact to ensure our operations are financially sustainable for generations to come.

The Role
As a Finance Trustee, you will provide strategic oversight and expert financial guidance to the board and staff. Your responsibilities will include:

 

Reviewing financial reports and providing constructive feedback. Offering strategic advice on financial planning and risk management. Supporting the development of robust financial policies and procedures. Acting as a "critical friend," challenging the charity’s financial decisions to ensure best practices are upheld. As Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee, you will also lead discussions on the charity’s financial strategy, oversee risk assessments, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

 

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking qualified accountants or professionals with extensive experience in financial management, charity finance, or housing associations. The ideal candidate will also bring:

 

A commitment to Pinnocks Charity’s mission and values. Knowledge of charity governance and financial practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A collaborative approach to decision-making. Prior trustee experience is desirable but not essential.

 

Commitment
The role requires a time commitment of approximately 1-2 days per month. This includes attending quarterly board meetings, Finance and Risk Committee meetings, and preparation time for reviewing reports and accounts. Meetings are held in person in Gravesend, Kent, with some flexibility for hybrid attendance.
