We are seeking a dedicated SENCo to join our team under the direction of the Head Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of the SEND strategy and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Equalities Act 2010. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and shape the school’s SEND strategy in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • Coordinate day-to-day SEND provision, including support for children in class and small groups.
  • Manage Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), assessments, and annual reviews with multi-agency input.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and facilitate effective communication throughout the school.
  • Develop an appropriate curriculum for students with SEN and assess students for access arrangements.
  • Attend SENCo meetings, share best practices, and maintain effective relationships with key partner agencies.
  • Lead and manage staff, providing opportunities for professional development and performance management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a SENCo or in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Equalities Act 2010.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop staff, promoting collaborative approaches to learning.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
