Head of Humanities Position Overview:

  • We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our Humanities department as the Head of Humanities, with a particular focus on History. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, fostering academic excellence, and promoting a love for the subject among our students. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to make a significant impact within our school community.
  • Key Responsibilities for Head of Humanities :
  • Lead and manage the Humanities department, including overseeing the development of schemes of work, resources, and assessments.
  • Inspire and motivate staff to deliver engaging and challenging lessons that meet the needs of all students.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support their academic achievement and personal development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular links and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of History education and implement innovative teaching practices.
  • Establish effective communication channels with parents/carers to ensure their involvement in their child's education.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, school events, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in History or a related field (a postgraduate qualification is desirable).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching History at the secondary level, with a track record of raising student achievement.
  • Previous leadership experience or a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
