Tripod Partners are seeking a Head of Corporate Property to lead the strategic management of a local authority’s general fund property portfolio. This senior leadership role will oversee the property team, drive the Corporate Landlord model, and lead on high-level policy development, asset management strategy, and major corporate property projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the corporate property function and manage the in-house property team.

  • Drive implementation of a Corporate Landlord model, ensuring co-ordination of asset-related activities across all council departments.

  • Develop and implement a Corporate Property Strategy and related policy frameworks.

  • Oversee asset performance monitoring, reporting against KPIs and corporate targets.

  • Act as the lead officer on major property projects and provide strategic input to council initiatives.

  • Serve as the informed client for external consultants and valuers providing statutory valuations.

  • Represent the property service at senior boards and provide briefings to elected members and senior stakeholders.

  • Manage service budgets and monthly financial reporting.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal services and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties, corporate policies, and health and safety obligations.

Requirements:

  • MRICS or FRICS qualified Chartered Surveyor.

  • Extensive leadership experience in asset management, ideally within local government.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement property strategies and deliver major projects.

  • Strong project management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of Landlord & Tenant law, asset management legislation, and local authority property frameworks.

  • Comfortable working in a political environment and reporting to senior boards and councillors.

  • Experience managing budgets, staff teams, and external consultants.

  • Familiarity with asset databases (e.g. Concerto) and GIS systems desirable.
