TeacherActive are proud to be working alongside a fantastic SEND School in Chorley who are on the lookout for an outstanding Support Worker Teaching Assistant . The school is an independent specialist school for boys and girls aged 6 to 19 who have mild, moderate and severe autism and associated complex learning needs, behaviours that may challenge and/or associated anxiety.
In the role of Support Worker Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work in the capacity of both a Teaching Assistant as well as Support Worker and will work in both the school as well as one of four residential care homes. Within the role, you will be required to transport pupils between home and school therefore a full and clean driving license is essential.
The working hours are 7.30 am – 4pm Monday to Friday, however there is the possibility to pick up extra hours in the school holidays in one of the care homes.
To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a SEND school or residential care environment
- Clean and Full Driving License
- Child Care NVQ, BTEC or CACHE
- A patient and caring approach when providing all aspects of care
- Experience in one-to-one support to encourage independence and raising self-esteem
- Be comfortable with providing personal care to young adults, including washing, dressing, toileting and feeding
- Respect privacy and dignity at all times
- Able to adapt to different working environments
