We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join our corporate company as a Financial Controller. This full-time position is based in Guildford and offers a competitive salary. The successful candidate will oversee our accounting operations, financial planning, and strategy, ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organisational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage the preparation of the company’s financial reports, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to senior management.
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met including Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Employer Health Tax.
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortised, and disposed of as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a financial controller role, preferably within a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.
