We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join our corporate company as a Financial Controller. This full-time position is based in Guildford and offers a competitive salary. The successful candidate will oversee our accounting operations, financial planning, and strategy, ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organisational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
Manage the preparation of the company’s financial reports, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to senior management.
Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met including Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Employer Health Tax.
Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.
Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.
Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortised, and disposed of as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Proven experience in a financial controller role, preferably within a corporate setting.
Strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.
