Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a local primary school on an exciting new SEND TA position, specifically to support learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs in the Hailsham area.

Starting immediately, the school is looking for an SEMH Behaviour Mentor to join them! If successful during the probationary period, this may lead into a permanent role.

This role is within a mainstream classroom setting, but to support a range of behavioural needs. The school is set in the idyllic setting of Hailsham and prides itself on its inclusive broad and rich curriculum. The school weaves their values of trust, compassion, friendship, hope and thankfulness into everything they do and underpin their teaching and learning strategies whilst providing an environment which prepares their pupils to be confident and happy students who will flourish in their community.

Having previous experience working with people with challenging behaviours, both children and adults - will be a strong advantage! Anyone from a care, support worker, security or youth worker is encouraged to apply!

This position would also be well suited to anyone without experience but with the right qualities - particularly being very resilient with a positive yet consistent approach! We can provide training to any candidates who show a real passion and eagerness to learn.

Your Role:

• Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex behavioural needs

• Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class

• Providing feedback to teachers and parents

This school strives to give their pupils a fresh approach to learning in their alternative provision setting. They encourage pupils to continue their educational progress both within the time they are there and when they are ready to move on to other schools and establishments.
