SLA Employment Solutions are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Manager for an International manufacturing business in Halifax. You will be part of the Senior Management Team, the Health and Safety Manager will support employees across the site in promoting a positive culture through strong leadership, high levels of engagement and best practices.

With a range of niche products and processes across the site, you need to have a direct hands-on approach and be confident in delivering training and implementing innovative ideas. The business is looking for someone with not just a strong background in safety, but with good knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices also. 

Duties & Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager:

• Ensure legal compliance for H&S in the workplace by conducting regular audits and inspections to make sure the highest standards are consistently maintained
• Lead training with new and existing members of staff whilst identifying and assisting in any staff development opportunities
• Ensure incident investigations are conducted promptly, including root cause analysis and corrective action is undertaken
• Creation, implementation and review of Risk Assessments, safe working procedures and method statements
• Delivery of the company H&S strategy and initiation for the site
• Review all existing company H&S documentation and update accordingly in line with our statutory obligations including CDM Regulations
• Ensure that all "assessments" as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals
• Visit each Project site conduct regular H&S inspections/audits and prepare detailed H&S audit reports
• Review of all RAMS and COSHH assessments and update where necessary
• Carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and record the findings on the relevant forms

Skills and experience of the Health and Safety Manager:

• Demonstrable experience within a manufacturing environment 
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong communication skills
