Our client has a new exciting role for an experienced Nightshift Production Supervisor, to work for one of the best manufacturing companies in the Portsmouth area, who pay competitive salaries, excellent benefits and a great working environment.

As a Night Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating the activities of the night shift team to ensure smooth and efficient operations. You will play a key role in maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards while fostering a positive work environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Overall Accountability for the areas of Manufacturing within your control at any given time, this includes but is not exclusive to, Health & Safety, Quality, delivery, cost, people, growth and new product releases.
  • Monitoring of Performance against KPIs and regular reporting of KPIs during regular meetings. Drive and develop new KPIs as required and have the ability to create, analyse, and present data as meaningful information.
  • Overall responsibility for headcount within the areas within your control - ensuring budgetary commitments are maintained and any increases are signed off by the appropriate approvers and in line with the company’s growth strategy
  • Lead and coach high-performing teams (Production Leaders, Deputy Production Leaders, and Production Operatives) Holding them accountable by use of tools such as the accountability ladder, the SBI Model, 7 habits of coaching etc

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the night shift production team, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Hold an oversight over all employees on nights, including departments outside of your control, ensuring H&S is paramount for all employees on nights.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing constructive feedback and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless transitions between shifts and resolve any operational issues.
  • Oversee the training and development of night shift employees to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for the night shift.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Handle any emergencies or incidents that may arise during the shift, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Prepare and submit shift reports detailing production, issues, and any other relevant information.

What you will need to succeed:

  • ILM qualification, or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a supervisor, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT, knowledge of operating Microsoft D365 preferable
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, best practices and lean manufacturing
