On behalf of a well-established chartered accountancy practice, we are recruiting for a Business Services Manager with strong technical knowledge across accountancy disciplines and excellent client skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a role where you will lead, motivate and steer a team, and help build the firm’s client portfolio. Predominantly an accounts role, there will be some involvement in audit assignments (around 20%) with genuine opportunity to influence direction of the firm.

As Business Services Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Line management of 6 direct reports including training, delegating and reviewing work, carrying out performance reviews
  • Responsible for meeting new business services clients and building relationships to upsell additional services including cross selling to personal tax
  • Report directly to MD and required to complete reporting and data analysis tasks such as client billing and billable time on direct reports’timesheets
  • Day to day client management and responding to queries
  • Managing the office’s WIP ledger, invoicing, and credit control
  • Ensuring correct AML procedure is adhered to for the whole team

The successful candidate will satisfy the following:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or similar with at least five years PQE within a practice environment
  • Strong understanding of corporation tax, small business structures (small groups), succession planning for the owner managed business and remuneration strategies
  • Strong up to date audit knowledge (new ISA 315; going concern, ISA 240, ISA600)
  • Up to date on VAT and PAYE rulings
  • Working understanding of both income tax and CGT
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
