About the School:

SENDhelp is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant position in collaboration with our partner school, located on the outskirts of Buckinghamshire in the vibrant city of Stokenchurch. As the newly appointed Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a school that continuously adapts to address the diverse needs of students, offering a tailored and comprehensive educational setting.

In your role as a Teaching Assistant, you will be joining a team that prioritises unconditional positive regard and acceptance of students, focusing on separating behavior from the individual and actively working to reshape students' self-concept and self-directed behavior.

Your responsibilities will include working in a school with specialized education provisions for secondary students. Specifically, you will be supporting pupils aged between 11 and 19 years old who are no longer able to attend mainstream education. The school has a small enrollment of no more than ten students, all facing cognitive and communication difficulties leading to complex and challenging behaviors.

As the new Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students, some of whom may have diagnoses such as autistic spectrum disorder and other associated neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions.

Requirements for Teaching Assistant:

  • Enhanced DBS Check required
  • Possesses a friendly demeanor and is a dedicated team player.
  • Capable of managing 1:1 student interaction, 2:1 situations, and effectively handling challenging behavior.
  • Finds enjoyment in working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish positive working relationships with both students and colleagues.
