Our Hoddesdon based Electronic manufacturing client has an opening for an experienced Electronic Equipment Build Technician

They are seeking candidates that share their core values of customer service, authenticity, and integrity who are interested in pursuing a career with a successful company. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in electronics, a high level of IT competency, and be based with a commutable distance of Hoddesdon. Working closely with Senior Engineers to build Head End products to order. The role involves final assembly, programming and testing pre-build chassis, as well as some building chassis from scratch and, responsible for organising components, fault finding and record keeping. During quiet build times, you will be required to support the production workshop tests equipment and fault analysis.


Headend Build:

  • Assemble computer boards and PCBs into casework according to Bill of Materials (BoM) and instructions.
  • Load computer motherboards with firmware image (Windows and Linux).
  • Load Java Software and fully test the hardware.
  • Log all required data of the built product including MAC addresses.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of both hardware and software prior to initiating the soak test.
  • Load the final client files and configuration onto the unit, including setting of IP addresses.
  • Box the final product and complete the necessary paperwork for shipping.
  • Maintain stock levels of BoM and pre-built chassis.
  • Identify and resolve build problems.
  • Liaise with Sales & Commissioning to acquire any missing information necessary for unit construction.
  • Build new machines tailored to project specific set ups.
  • Repair malfunctioning machines, produce comprehensive failure reports.
  • Recover old data from older machines in restore it to new machine.


General Technical:

  • Support Production workshop by preforming various tasks, including fault finding and analysing rejects.
  • Ensure that the Senior Technical Engineer is promptly informed of any manufacturing faults so that they can be fed back to the supplier.
  • Assist the Senior Technical Engineer as needed.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in reviewing stock levels.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Arrange express deliveries and collections via Couriers
  • Create proof of delivery (POD) documents.
  • Generate and maintain work instructions.
  • Maintain and promote high standards in health & safety.
  • Perform any duties that align with the post holder’s responsibilities.


Skills that will help in this role:

  • HND, HNC, BTEC or similar in an Electronic field of study
  • Keen interest in electronics
  • Experience with PCB fault diagnosis techniques
  • Ability to fault find and implement corrective action.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • A good understanding of safety protocols.
  • Microsoft office, Excel.
