Are you a passionate and dedicated educator looking to make a significant impact in the lives of students with special educational needs? Our secondary schools in Hornchurch are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team starting in September 2024.

As the SENCO, you will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the educational experience of our students. You will be responsible for coordinating SEN provisions, ensuring that all students with additional needs receive the tailored support they require to thrive academically and socially. Your expertise will guide and inspire our teaching staff, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the SEN provision across the school, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to identify, assess, and support students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create and monitor individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide training and support to staff to enhance their understanding and ability to meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes for students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial experience in SEN.
  • NASENCO Award (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with children with special educational needs in a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
