This would suit someone from a Rail or Commercial building background who has been hands on but is also able to project manage and work towards deadlines.

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or a management apprenticeship complemented by substantial industry experience.
  • Chartered status or progression towards it with a professional institute such as IMechE is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience post-graduation in mechanical design, engineering, or management within Building Services, coupled with a proven track record of success.
  • Proficiency in managing external suppliers to deliver comprehensive design packages across all project phases.
  • Adeptness in defining work scopes with designers, orchestrating deliverables, and collaborating with teams to formulate fee proposals for Project and Commercial Manager approval.
  • Effective communication strategies to align various design organisations and site teams.
  • Familiarity with CDM 2015 and at least one design and construction process model.
  • Competence with EDMS and design workflows.
  • Experience in highly regulated sectors, such as aviation or rail, is advantageous.
  • Commitment to obtaining and maintaining necessary site passes and a CSCS card.
