The Finance Manager will ideally be a member of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body.
Our client, a public sector organisation based in Nottinghamshire are seeking an innovative and creative Finance Manager to join our team and contribute to delivering high-quality financial management support services. The ideal candidate will be a member of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body and will play a key role in driving the modernisation of our service.
Day to Day of the role:
- Provide a comprehensive, high-quality financial service, including the management and supervision of staff.
- Act as a visible leader, effectively managing resources and demonstrating a passion for making a difference.
- Communicate information clearly to build understanding and share expert knowledge.
- Manage a finance team, serving as a positive role model and ensuring commitment to team goals and service vision.
- Performance manage the team to deliver excellent service to our customers.
- Foster positive working relationships and commit to the development of your team and personal growth.
- Support the Head of Service as a member of the Finance Manager Group.
- Ensure financial management services are directed and controlled in line with statutory, financial, and council procedures.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of financial planning processes and support the council in developing strategies to adapt to changing requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in resource and business planning within a local authority or complex organisation.
- Awareness of current issues affecting local government and financial implications for local authorities.
- Proficiency with complex financial systems in a large organisation.
- Skilled in preparing budgets, financial and service plans, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Ability to advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff, prioritising workloads effectively.
- Experience in producing business cases and managing risk.
- Knowledge of professional accounting standards.
- Experience in managing the preparation of annual accounts and providing financial advice to managers and stakeholders.
- Ability to support the development of finance services.
