Secondary Special Education Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) teaching assistant ready for impactful roles in 2024? Your expertise is in high demand!

Stafflex Education is partnering with secondary schools and academies across Kirklees, Calderdale, and Wakefield, urgently seeking SEND teaching assistants for day-to-day, long-term, and permanent positions.

As a crucial member of our team, you'll provide invaluable one-on-one support to specific secondary school pupils with additional needs. Collaborating closely with class teachers, you'll assist your assigned pupils across various curriculum subjects, nurturing their social skills, maintaining focus, and actively contributing to their academic development. Additionally, you'll extend support to the broader class and teacher as required.

Please ensure that you fulfil and can evidence the criteria below before applying for this role:

  • Recent experience working with secondary age children, preferably in a one-on-one capacity
  • Proven track record supporting secondary students with SEND and/or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Minimum Level 3 qualified or equivalent
  • A supportive, nurturing demeanour with exceptional behaviour management skills
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships with secondary students and fellow staff members
  • A comprehensive CV detailing your employment history for the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps
  • Compliance with Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable), in accordance with our stringent safeguarding policy
  • You must have legal right to work in the UK
  • You must be willing to attend a face to face registration interview
