Production / Manufacturing Engineer

Duration: Temporary to Permanent

Location: Huddersfield, HD1

Hours: Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM, 40 hours

Pay Rate: 25,000 - 30,000 per annum.

Stafflex are working on behalf of a well-established Huddersfield-based organisation that specialises in high performance, extreme environment piezoelectric devices, systems, and materials, offering a range of sensors, actuators, and transducer devices.

We are actively seeking a Production Engineer who will be a key contributor to the production team. You will work closely within the team to ensure production schedules are met, implement continuous improvement and manufacturing methods in order to satisfy customer orders, and bring new products to manufacturing.

Duties:

  • Build and assemble products within the manufacturing team to ensure products are delivered to cost, time and specification, able to work in a precise and exacting manner.
  • Design and development of tooling, jigging and fixtures as required.
  • Identify, assess, execute, and lead continuous improvement projects within the production team.
  • Work with the Development Team to complete written specifications, procedures, and instructions to assemble, process and test products effectively and efficiently under a Quality system.
  • Communicate with suppliers and equipment manufacturers to discuss applications, resolve issues, and ensure product requirements are met.
  • Responsible and accountable for working under the requirements of the company quality assurance and health and safety policy.
  • Assist the ceramics and devices development team in NPI projects as required.
  • Assist with the planning of production schedules.

Essential skills:

  • Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical engineering-based education or equivalent to minimum HNC/HND level or higher in engineering and/or have completed a recognised apprenticeship in engineering.
  • Experience working within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
  • Ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines as part of a team or independently.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of using CAD software (in particular SolidWorks) to produce designs and/or drawings.
  • Capable of working to and delivering engineering drawings, sketches, or written instructions
  • Computer literate, competent in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience of soldering to IPC standards
  • Experience of New Product Introduction (NP1)
  • Experience in high temperature/high pressure devices.
  • Experience in working within an ISO 9001 accredited or another regulated industry environment or equivalent.
  • Experience of using a MRP/ERP system
